Many early morning joggers, and dog walkers were quite shocked to see a team of Super Heroes out and about at that time of day, and heartily agreed with the poster messages advocating physical activity, eating well and halting diabetes.
NBPH staff walked (and puffed) to the top of “Centre of New Zealand” which is a 30 minute uphill walk with breath-taking views out over Nelson Bays.
Nelson Bays Primary Health staff took part in the Dawn4Diabetes event as we felt inspired by the Super hero poster messages, the simplicity and uniqueness of the key messages and the relevance to all in our community.
It was a great opportunity for staff at Nelson Bays Primary Health to “walk the talk” and show that we do practice what we preach. We also showed that no matter who you are or what your job is – we all need to be active and being active can be fun and fitted into your working day.
“Physical activity – you don’t have to take it seriously – just regularly”.
To top off the World Health Day, NBPH staff also had a workplace healthy morning tea (again to practice what we preach) and challenged the staff in the WHO diabetes quiz.
