Managing Osteoarthritis & Gout

Knowing how to manage osteoarthritis and gout can make a real difference to everyday life and the ability to remain active and independent.

The Joint Programme explores the everyday opportunities to take control and manage osteoarthritis and gout. Best of all, learning is done in a small-group setting together with others who are experiencing similar issues.

About the session:

This free 2 and a half-hour session is for anyone with osteoarthritis and gout - partners/friends are welcome. Information is shared in a relaxed, informal group setting with a hands-on, practical approach. Light refreshments are provided.

Topics Include:

  • Arthritis basics.

  • Learn about gout.

  • Understanding pain.

  • Limiting pain

  • Staying positive

  • How and why movement helps

  • How to keep bones healthy.

Who can access this service?

  • Adults and children referred by their health professional e.g. family doctor, nurse, Plunket, Public Health Nurse, Maori Health Provider etc.
  • Must meet specific health condition criteria

How to be referred

Please see your health professional (as mentioned above). They will refer you if you meet eligibility criteria.
